Soft Touch Applications

Marry one premium material with another? Absolutely!

Many manufacturers continually seek ways to eliminate wood and wood alternatives like MDF in their units. Doing so reduces the risk of damage caused by repeated and prolonged exposure to the elements that cause swelling, warping, mold and rotting. They want to turn to Azdel Onboard composite to give them and their customers more peace of mind. Lowering weight and warranty costs are added benefits as well. One application that wasn’t previously known to be an option for Azdel was the joining with soft touch finish films. But it is now!

Soft Touch Sample Group

Soft touch comes as a film to be stapled or adhered to a substrate. It is available in a wide range of colors and textures to match your interior needs.

Azdel has recently partnered with a company who already serves the RV industry and can now offer soft touch finishes on our composite. Whether you simply require full sheets of Azdel with your preferred finish or you need it cut to a specific size and shape, our partner can make it happen.

Pictured here are samples of soft touch laminated to different thicknesses of Azdel, with and without foam padding, perforated and solid, smooth finish and faux leather.

The use of Soft Touch in the RV market is popular among Class B units. Also known as a Camper Van, the Class B begins as an empty metal shell behind the front seats, and gets built out to create the cozy or elegant feel. This can involve a lot of wood or MDF that is susceptible to problems identified above. Azdel eliminates that.

Many manufacturers use soft touch on their interior sidewalls as well as accent panels and divider walls. Ceiling applications are very common and are covered next.
