RV & Trailer Interiors
A wide variety of Interior options with Azdel Onboard® composite exist for RVs and other trailers
Interior Options for Azdel Composite
Due to the known, historic problems with wood in an RV, manufacturers continue to switch their interior-side substrate to Azdel composite. Because of our composite’s versatility, there exists a variety of compatible interior finish options to use with Azdel, as well as different technologies to achieve them, and we’ll explain each here.
Interior options exist for sidewalls, ceilings, cargo areas, shower surrounds, accent panels and backsplashes, floor undersides and more. And that’s just for RV’s! Browse our various applications through the menu above for more ideas, and be sure to check out our Interior Wall Décor Panels page.
Azdel In-Line Interior Panels
Our “In-Line” décor options are efficiently made in house. The finish film is made by introducing a décor film to our hot core during the production process. The layers naturally bond together to form a new, durable interior panel option that reduces weight while carrying many of the same benefits that our exterior sheets offer. Plus, the separate step of lamination and the glue used for it are eliminated, saving time, labor, adhesives and cost.
One of our in-house options is called DuraBlend™. Through a variety of accredited lab testing, the film is proven to hold up as well as or better than vinyl in both stain testing and scratch and mar testing. See our Surface Testing page to learn more. DuraBlend has been used in the industry since 2021 and continues to be the preferred choice for several manufacturers.

The in-line process described above is also used for our more basic finishes for less decorative areas. We use a polypropylene film on our composite, which becomes an excellent waterproof option for ceilings, accent areas, storage areas, cabover floors, shower surrounds and more. The finish has a very light and subtle texture. We currently offer gray, white and black in this film, but more colors are available by special order. The black option is also used as the underside to most of our recommended RV floor configurations.

Custom Printed Panels

A tiny sample of the vast array of existing, customizable patterns available — or supply your own!
We have a separate page dedicated to covering our Custom Printed Panels, but they are a great interior option for a variety of areas, so it is worth including here as well.
This turns an already water-resistant panel into a waterproof one, and does it with style. Customizable in both color and scale, this concept allows manufacturers to have the exact look they need for any area. Choose from hundreds of existing patterns or supply your own, and change them any way you like.
Perhaps the best part about these is the ability to have image-matching texture for things like brick, stone, woodgrain, or something more formal.
Popular applications to this point are accent panels, backsplashes, shower surrounds and, of course, entire walls panels.
Soft Touch
Like the printed panels above, the Soft Touch product is significant enough to have its own page, but also needs to be included here. Soft Touch applications are most popular in motorhome interiors, adding a luxurious look and feel to the ceilings, walls and accent areas.
We partnered with a company who already serves the RV industry and can now offer soft touch finishes on our composite. Whether you simply require full sheets of Azdel with your preferred finish or you need it cut to a specific size and shape, our partner can make it happen.
Pictured here are samples of soft touch laminated to different thicknesses of Azdel, with and without foam padding, perforated and solid, smooth finish and faux leather.

Distributor Vinyls

The traditional and still the most common option is a distributor vinyl. Distributors of our composite will laminate vinyl décor layers to our material to create sheets for the interior side and sell them to manufacturers and third-party laminators for wall construction. Because of the huge array of vinyl décor colors and patterns available, this approach offers the most choices to manufacturers.
Among vinyl films, one can often find a version that simulates the look and feel of a popcorn ceiling. This is used almost exclusively on the ceilings and is generally found in white only. The sample pictured here is typical of this option.
